Event 1: Art | Sci Ecocentric Art + Science Symposium

Assisting to the Art | Sci Ecocentric  Art + Science Symposium directed by Professor Vesna and Professor Gimzewski made a great impact in my depiction of arts through science and vice versa. The event was 4 hours long presentation which had several speakers sharing their ideas and predictions of the way that ecology will impact the sciences and the contemporary arts of this new era. Among these speakers, Linda Weintraub an eco-centric artist from New York City presented her eco-centric ideas and shared pieces of her colleagues. I always thought that in order to appreciate the science it would have to be through art and the aesthetic meaning inflicted onto scientific ideas. After listening to Linda Weintraub and her experimental exposition based on the exploration of nature through the body. I learned that to appreciate something or know what is it one doesn't have to be so rational all the time and you can actually understand the world without all of those perfect parameters that we have imposed through decades of study. She made great points about this new era and how humans are becoming neo-materialistic and we are losing our sense challenging technology. This relates in so many ways to all the topics that I have studied since the beginning first of all because we start to see the dichotomies of creating from two different perspectives encountering the third culture that C. P. Snow talks about.
